Thanks for your support

Thanks to everyone who continues to visit our site, all those who are submitting links and to everyone on the newsletter as Top Horse Racing Links continues to grow. Keep your ideas and suggestions coming in as well, so we can continue to improve.

Tipster League

We have started our very own tipster league at www.tophorseracinglinks/league.htm . Be sure to come along and place a vote if you have any experience of the many tipster services out there. Hopefully the more people who will come along and vote, the more money we can all save and we can try and sort the wheat from the chaff. If you run a tipster service yourself be sure to register!

Forget backing horses to win - lay them to lose instead.

How many times have you put your money on the sure fire "good thing" only to get your fingers burned, or worse, as the good old "jolly" doesn't oblige. More times that you'd care to admit or remember huh. And how many times have you done so after getting swept up in the hype about a horse or thought it can't lose because it's trained by Stoute or Pipe or ridden by Fallon or McCoy.

Well, thanks to the advent of betting exchanges it doesn't have to be like that any longer. With the application of a few basic "rules" you can identify short priced horses with a better chance of getting beaten than landing the gamble and "laying" them on the exchanges. For the uninitiated this basically means you act almost as the bookmaker but you set your own odds and liabilities betting "one on one" with other punters.

For example if you lay a horse to lose to £5 at even money and it does lose, you win £5 or you lose £5 if it wins. Get the drift by now - perhaps you can see the potential already. Spend a little time identifying false favourites and then lay them to lose. I personally use a simple methodology for selecting well fancied short priced (2/1 or less) horses that I think will get beaten.

No more "this one can't lose". It can. And you can profit when it does. If this has got you thinking, check out http://www.layoftheday.co.uk and see for yourself.

This months sites

Each month we intend to include a round up of selected sites that we feel will be of interest. Each site is listed in our link directory and we have personally visited and reviewed each one. Here are some of this months new additions to the site.

Racing Intelligence - The web based presence of Racing Intelligence (RACEint) UK. They run an independent site aimed at providing long-term betting profitability. Plenty of interesting content well worth a read.

The Inside Rail - Tipster service, who offer a free 1 month trial and who claim to have never had a losing month since its inception in December 2001

Betfair - Not a new site but one worth mentioning in conjunction with our article about laying bets to lose. You do have to pay commission but you only pay that on your net winnings. You will get better odds than from the bookies!

Profitable Punting - An e-book written by Jim Welsh who after years of betting successfully decided to share his knowledge. Purchasing his book ($15) enables you to access his daily tips.
