===================

2:30 Coventry

I haven't rated this race but I like the look of THREE VALLEYS from Roger Charlton's yard. Defeated Grand Rich King who went on to frank the form last time. This is a well-built, good looking colt and at odds of around 8/1 I would expect him to represent good e/w value.

THREE VALLEYS - e/w 15/2 Coral

===============================================

3:05 Kings Stand

I think we may get to get a bit of rain before racing, even if we don't I still like the look of CAPTAIN RIO with Kieron Fallon on board. I've taken the 12/1 with Skybet as that will surely not last too long on course and he is taken to end Dandy Nicholl's long losing streak at Royal Ascot. The danger is Continent but at 9/1 I prefer to look elsewhere as he needs a lot to fall his way. Oasis Dream has been popular this morning and is a strong contender but first time out with his GP1 penalty could be asking a lot and Gosden's runners have tended to need their first run of the year. SADDAD is the one that interests me most at around 16/1. A very strong, attractive and lightly raced colt, he is relatively unexposed and was off the track for 12 months after injuring a sesamoid in spring 2002. Was a fair 4th to Airwave on his reappearance at Sandown and although there is a possiblity that he will start slowly, he is one of the least exposed in the field and open to improvement. Another that could be potentially GP1 class is ROMANTIC LIASION who is too big at 14/1 for the Godolphin filly. Not only is she a half-sister to Romantic Myth but she has good form in winning the Queen Mary last season and was beaten only 1 1/2 lengths by the 1000 Guineas winner Russian Rhythm in the Lowther. The drop back to 5f will be ideal and with Frankie on board is the value bet. I also expect last year's winner Dominica to run a big race from the 1 stall and she is worth a cover bet.

CAPTAIN RIO - e/w 12/1 Skybet
SADDAD - e/w 18/1 Skybet
ROMANTIC LIASION - e/w 14/1 Skybet
DOMINICA - win cover 11/1 Betfair

===============================================

There should not be too much between Kalaman and CLODOVIL but at the prices, the bet has to be on the French 2000 Guineas winner who has proven himself in this class, is better value and has an electric turn of foot. Indian Haven is likely to be a big danger but horses placed in both Guineas have done well in this race in the past and I like the look of TOUT SEUL at an e/w price of 16/1. I take the view that he could have needed both his runs this season and he was not beaten too far in the English or Irish Guineas. His Dewhurst win was impressive last time and his profile reminds me a lot of Grand Lodge who won this after winning the Dewhurst and placing in English and Irish Guineas. He can make the frame at a price but CLODOVIL should take the beating here.

CLODOVIL - win 4/1 Betfair
TOUT SEUL - e/w 16/1 Paddy Power

===============================================

HAWK WING should take all the stopping although it has to be remembered that Where Or When beat him at Ascot last season. However, Hawk Wing looked exceptional at Newbury and here is hoping we have a new champion. Paddy Power are betting without Hawk Wing and I think WHERE OR WHEN represents the best value at 5/2 without the favourite. He was beaten 11 lengths by Hawk Wing but pulled 8 lengths clear of the rest and should chase home the favourite but a race to watch and enjoy.

WHERE OR WHEN - win (without Hawk Wing) 5/2 Paddy Power

===============================================

In the Duke Of Edinburgh I have a great bet in the shape of MUHAREB at a general 16/1. Won a competitive 15-runner affair at York in May from Sporting Gesture and they pulled well clear of the 3rd Manoubi. Both 2nd and 3rd have subsequently won and this looks the best e/w bet of the day for me. Stoute has a strong hand and preference is for Kieron Fallon's RESEARCHED although the price is not great, but he looks on the verge of listed class and is the main danger and worth a cover bet. Of the others I like the look of SHABERNAK who was short-headed by COUNSEL'S OPINION last time. That was a competitive race and was run at a good gallop as today's race should be and Shabernak is lightly raced and still unexposed. He ran a good race behind Gold Cup fancy Mr Dinos last season and there should not be too much between the two again. Counsel's Opinion was 3rd in this race last season and has been in cracking form this season. From a stats point of view RED WINE looks quite strong and although he would appreciate some cut, he acts on fast ground and has run well on his first few flat runs. He is worth an e/w with Bet365 who are paying down to 5 places.

MUHAREB - e/w 16/1 Bet365 (5 places)
SHABERBAK - e/w SP Bet365
COUNSEL'S OPINION - e/w SP Bet365
RESEARCHED - win 4/1 Betfair

===============================================

The Balmoral is always a trappy affair where luck in running is all-important. I have MOVE IT top-rated and value at the 9/1 that is readily available. The handicapper has not been too kind to him and although he looks a cut above most of these although Bonus let the form down slightly last time when beaten by Vision of Night, another problem I have with him is the draw and that is a concern so it's a small stakes cover bet for me on him. No such worries with Baltic King who is drawn in the plum stall 1 against the rail and he impressed on his seasonal debut at Leicester last time and has been targetted at this race since. However, he is generally held up so the 1 stall could be a problem. This could go to an outsider though and three that interest me are GAELIC PRINCESS, RECTANGLE and CAPE ROYAL. Gaelic Princess is drawn against the far rail which will help. She coughed a few times after her 3rd in a listed race at Haydock and hadn't come in her coat yet. She is ok now, has strengthened up considerably and has been targetted at this race. 25/1 is a huge price as is the 16/1 about RECTANGLE. He has run a couple of placed efforts this season so has escaped the handicappers attention. The form of those races looks very strong and this prominant racer should be bang there at the end. CAPE ROYAL is another that catches my eye at 16/1 with other firms going just 10/1. Lightly raced and unexposed, was better than the margin suggested last time when landing his maiden and gets in here with a featherweight. Extremely speedily bred and half brother to the likes of Astonished and Bishops Court, he is open to improvement. Bet365 are again paying down to 5 places in this race.

MOVE IT - win 9/1 generally available
GAELIC PRINCESS - e/w 25/1 Bet365 (5 places)
RECTANGLE - e/w SP Bet365
CAPE ROYAL - e/w SP Bet365

Sandown 2:40

============

Some nice action at Sandown today and I expect Mark Johnston to continue his good record here starting off with a victory for GREAT SCOTT in the 2:40. He progressed to score in game fashion last time at Beverley, battling well and he can step up on that effort again here.

GREAT SCOTT - 100 win

Sandown 3:15

============

In the 3:15 there are two horses I like, the first is BROADWAY SCORE at a big looking 16/1, the same price when landing the Roseberry at Kempton time before last. He clearly didn't handle Epsom last time and will be much better suited to this track today. Only 3lb higher than when winning at Kempton, he can go close again at a nice price. The main danger is likely to be SAMHARI who will appreciate any rain in the ground. Was a solid 4th at Ascot in the first-time visor and has a huge chance in this company. Worth the win bet at 4/1. Courageous Duke has a penalty to overcome, Nuit Sombre is a 3yo taking on older horses and the main danger may come from HIGHLAND REEL who ran a good race when winning easily last time at Salisbury. Elsworth is in form and he is also worth an e/w interest.

SAMHARI – 100 win

BROADWAY SCORE - 50 e/w

HIGHLAND REEL - 50 e/w

Sandown 4:20

============

The 4:20 should give Dettori another chance of a winnerfor Godolphin with the dropped in class NAHEEF and the 13/2 is a price to be interested in as he ran a close race in a GP3 in France last time. A nice e/w price is FOODBROKER FOUNDER at 25/1. He was a touched-off 2nd at Ascot last time which was an improved effort and if he can at least maintain that form he could place and if improving on it, he could trouble the principals. The main danger is ISLAND HOUSE who is most consistent at this level and is worth a cover bet.

NAHEEF - 100 win

FOODBROKER FOUNDER - 50 e/w

ISLAND HOUSE - 50 win

Sandown 4:50

============

Finally in the 4:50 SAINT ALEBE can round off a good day for Elsworth by taking the final race. He is still unexposed and his form in defeating Mamcazma on his seasonal debut looks solid. He can improve for the step up in trip, stable is firing and he will appreciate the ground.

SAINT ALEBE - 100 win

Beverley 7:45

===========

A few interesting races tonight, first up is BELUGA BAY in the 7:45 at Beverley. The stable is firing in the winners and Spencer is riding well at the moment. Likely to be value against Yakimov but Fanshawe's gelding is more consistent and really loves to get his toe into the ground. Conditions are ideal.

BELUGA BAY - 100 win

Haydock 8:25

===========

Nice little handicap where DIGITAL is the class act, forget his last few runs on fast ground, today's conditions will be right up his street. He was a much better 2nd to Mine at Doncaster and 5th in the Victoria Cup behind Hunt Cup runner-up Camp Commander. Quotes of around 9/1 look very generous. He does throw in the odd stinker so let's have an e/w bet on the top-weight TERFEL. Michael Bell landed a treble last Saturday and has his team in fine form. Terfel has acquitted himself well in conditions company on his last 2 runs and will appreciate the drop back to handicap company and the 7f trip is ideal.

DIGITAL - 50 e/w

TERFEL – 50 e/w

SIMIANNA – 100 win @ 10/1
DANI RIDGE - 50 e/w @ 20/1

Celtic Mill is plenty short enough for such a competitive race considering he is stepping up markedly in class AND carrying a penalty so I think he is worth opposing. The first one I am opposing him with is SIMIANNA who ran perhaps her best race when a close 5th to Torosay Spring in a Group 3 at York last time. Prior to that she had won quite impressively at Newmarket and back in June was a 2 length 4th to subsequent Wokingham winner Fayr Jag. That form gives her a major chance here and the 10/1 generally available looks big. There is also plenty of appeal e/w for DANI RIDGE who had a poor draw last time but was earlier an impressive winner over Toldya at Ripon where Simianna was 3 lengths back in 3rd. There is not too much between them at the weights and at 20/1 with Bet365, Dani Ridge is well worth an e/w bet.

25th July

Ascot 2:45

TOM PADDINGTON - 50 e/w @ 12/1 Victor Chandler

Tom Paddington has shown most of his best form with cut in the ground, notably when winning his maiden on heavy ground way back in '98, he preceded to win a hurdle race at Wincanton by 6 lengths on good to soft ground but after his next hurdle win he went lame and was off the track for 3 seasons with tendon trouble. At the time he was fancied as an outsider for the Triumph Hurdle.

It was quite some training performance for Hughie Morrisson to get him back after a 1351-day abscence to score last backend in a good 2m handicap back at Newbury. The bounce factor was in evidence when he disappointed on his last run in 2002. First time out this year he ran a big race behind Counsel's Opinion when a good 4th, beaten just a few lengths over an inadequate 12 furlongs in a decent looking Newbury handicap. Last time out he ran well when 2nd to Forever Loved, attempting to concede 8lbs and being beaten 1/2 a length over a 14 furlong trip.

Today's step up in trip and crucially the ground are in his favour and although he is an 8yo, he is a still relatively unexposed stayer. The stable have their stayers in good form this year and Tom Paddington is overpriced at now that the rain has arrived. He was trained for the Northumberland Plate but just missed the cut. There has been money for him at Betfair early from 16/1 down to a current 10/1 but is still 12/1 with Betdaq so shop around for the best prices at 10am, by checking the race odds on Oddschecker.

26th July

Ascot 2:00

COURAGEOUS DUKE - 100 win @ 5/2
SHAHZAN HOUSE - 20 e/w @ 7/1

A little unlucky behind Far Lane last time in the Magnet Cup at York but COURAGEOUS DUKE was not disgraced in finishing 4th. Had earlier run a couple of respectable efforts and with Fallon back on board should take all the stopping. I fancied Shahzan House as an outsider in at York but the race was not run to suit this hold-up performer. He will have a much better chance here and the stable is in exceptional form.

Ascot 3:10

MINE - 100 win @ 8/1
CAPRICHO - 50 e/w @ 12/1
MILLENNIUM FORCE - 20 e/w @ 28/1

MINE is joint-top of my ratings alongside Ratio but Mine is likely to be the better value selection at 8/1+. He was badly hampered at the start and only just failed to catch Patavellian last time at Newmarket. That was quality form and he will be tough to beat. Ratio is a tough contender but he will find this harder than the Wokingham under his penalty. CAPRICHO won a GP3 in Germany last time and that came on the back of a good 4th in the Wokingham. He is weighted to finish a lot closer to Ratio today and he is e/w value at 12/1. A more speculative selection is MILLENNIUM FORCE at around 28/1. Mick Channon's contender has been in consistent form lately and he had no chance from a poor draw/start in the Wokingham. He will have a much better chance here and can make the frame.

30th July

Good 2:05

IT'S DEFINITE – 100 e/w @ 12/1 (Sportingodds)

Caught my eye in the Ascot review on the site when 3rd in the Ascot Stakes and I like him as an outsider for the Cesarewich. He is a big price at 12/1 in a race where only a few can be fancied. The danger is likely to be John Dunlop's Heir To Be but It's Definite will love this trip and is in better form. There is a slight concern over his ability to handle the ground but I think he will and it will probably make it more of a stamina test which will play into his hands.

Good 3:15

ZAFEEN - 100 win @ SP

Shame that Kalaman and Where Or When have been withdrawn but that leaves the way clear for Zafeen to show that his St James Palace win was no fluke. He is unlucky not to be a Guineas winner and I don't think the ground was to blame at the Curragh. We will find out more today but he is the one to beat and is likely to be a nice price given the support for Trade Fair who is yet to win over a mile or in better than GP3 class. A bigger danger could be Statue Of Liberty who was in need of his run in the St James Palace and is highly rated by O'Brien who is in better form of late but Channon is also in top form and Zafeen will be tough to beat here.

Good 3:50

FINANCIAL FUTURE - 100 e/w @ 12/1 (Sportingodds)

A very competitive race but Financial Future impressed me last time and in his maiden when dotting up by 8 lengths. Johnston has another 2 runners in this race and the presence of Steel Cat is also a concern given Cumani's record in this race but FF is still relatively unexposed in handicaps and the trainer is bang in form. I also think Anticipating has a big chance, Andrew Balding had a nice winner here yesterday and he has been aimed at this race for some time but may prefer faster ground.

Good 4:25

HOH BUZZARD - 100 win @ 4/1 (generally available)

The booking of Fallon looks significant here and her defeat of Fleet Of Light looks good in light of that one's subsequent win. She only has a 5lb penalty for that win and that should not be enough with the champ on board.

Kemp 7:00

JUST ONE LOOK - 50 win @ SP

Just the small bet on Just One Look who is another review horse that I picked up on last time and mentioned she would be worth noting next time in a Nursery. Well she runs tonight at Kempton, the stable is in form and she will be tough to beat.

BARKING MAD and Factor Fifteen are tied on the ratings but preference is for the former at the better odds as he has won 2 of his last 3. I will also risk a 1pt e/w on Style Dancer who should go close at his best but has not shown much lately.

BARKING MAD - 50 win @ 9/2

STYLE DANCER - 10 e/w @ 12/1

BOWMAN can just hold on from Lundy's Lane although the ratings show this race to be very tight indeed. Godolphin have done fairly well in these types of races this season and he should take the beating. Lundy's Lane is worth an e/w, was impressive last time and the stable is in form.

BOWMAN – 100 win @ 4/1

LUNDY'S LANE - 20 e/w @ 7/1

Not the greatest race in the world but there are some nice odds on offer so I am going to chance 3. CURRENCY rates the main bet ahead with the stables sprinters being in superb form this season ahead of Najeebon who may be helped by the first time tongue tie and Full Spate who can go close if he can break well.

CURRENCY - 50 e/w @ 10/1

NAJEEBON - 20 e/w @ 16/1

FULL SPATE - 10 e/w @ 12/1

MAC is a tentative selection where he is tied with Alex Stewart's Fourth Dimension.

Marcus Tregoning is in good form and Mac is likely to be better value than the likely favourite with Fallon on board.

MAC - 50 win

MILK IT MICK is clear on the ratings but less unexposed horses may not figure too highly in the ratings so caution is advisable but he has not finished too far behind the best this season. Fortunately he is a decent price so we can have e/w caution. Naaddey is the 2nd best and is likely to be available at a good price for a place.

MILK IT MILK - 100 e/w

NAADDEY - 10 e/w

FEARBY CROSS can go well under the very talented Lisa Jones. She has caught my eye on more than one occasion and gets a good tune out of Fearby Cross. It's worth taking a chance that Doctor Dennis run last time was no fluke and he should be available at double-figure odds.

FEARBY CROSS - 100 win

DOCTOR DENNIS - 10 e/w

FLIGHT OF ESTEEM is in great form and he is the one to beat here. He has a good lead over Ezz Elkheil and with Holland on board he is likely to take all the stopping.

OPERA GLASS is worth a small win to try to boost the bank for York which starts tomorrow. The stable is in form and this one has been running well in good handicaps lately. The topweight Star Sensation has a squeak for a place at a likely nice price.

OPERA GLASS - 50 win

STAR SENSATION - 10 e/w

HAMBLEDEN put in a great show when 3rd to Waverley at Royal Ascot and ran ok when 2nd at York in July. He then ran a fair race until fading a few furlongs from home at Goodwood and the step back to 12 furlongs should suit. A nice e/w price should be available. Solo Flight is an enigmatic character but has slipped to a fair mark. Dettori takes the ride on him for the first time and this could be a good combo.

HAMBLEDEN - 50 e/w

SOLO FLIGHT - 10 e/w

BOLLIN ERIC is a tentative choice in a trappy race. The marvelous Persian Punch will be tough to crack but Bollin Eric can get back to winning ways here.

BOLLIN ERIC - 50 win

NAYEF was disappointing in the King George but he is the class performer and he will be a different prospect following a break and the step back to 10f will be ideal. Indian Creek won well in the Hardwicke, could sneak a place and may be the chief danger along with Falbrav.

NAYEF - 100 win

INDIAN CREEK - 10 e/w

York 3:30

=========

HIGH ACCOLADE only just failed to land the Gordon Stakes last time and was earlier a good winner at Royal Ascot in the King Edward. He looks a Leger type and this track should suit his style of racing but there is not much between the top-4.

HIGH ACCOLADE - 50 win

York 4:05

=========

RULE OF LAW could be anything and won by 7 lengths over course and distance last time. Loder is in form and he should be the one to beat. Top Seed won his maiden by 9 lengths and could also be anything so risk a small e/w.

RULE OF LAW - 50 win

TOP SEED - 10 e/w

York 4:35

=========

BLUE TOMATO won well last time and the length margin does not do him justice as he had a lot in hand. Fallon is back on board and he will be tough to beat. Times Review has been fairly consistent and may also be worth a small e/w.

BLUE TOMATO - 100 win

TIMES REVIEW - 10 e/w

York 5:10

NAJEEBON was close at the finish when a good 3rd at Haydock last time in a similar race. He has run fairly well in some decent races this season and should take the beating. Undettered is the main danger so worth a cover bet but Proud Boast looks overpriced at a likely 33/1. He was a good 3rd in a listed race at Chester and is still capable of putting in a good show, as when winning a listed race last backend at Newmarket off the same mark as today.

NAJEEBON - 100 e/w

UNDETERRED - 50 win
